The background is the interior of a room in a castle tower, with windows looking out onto a night sky, complete with shinning full moon. It can be presumed that the room is high in a tower, because it is above the clouds – which are subtly animated. The curtain drapes above the window are also animated, swaying gently – though precariously close to burning candles! The royal pug dog, complete with crown, sits on a red velvet cushion to the left of the reels, and sparkling gold coins litter the stone floor. All of the character symbols are also animated, with little swaying, smiling and blinking motions, making for a gameplay environment that seems to come alive.

The background soundtrack features nice period music, with harpsichord and flutes, and ambient summer night insect sounds, and the sound effects for the reels are nice and mechanically clunky. Of course, if you find the music or sounds annoying, you can mute each, or adjust the volume individually.
